How to Install Theme
To install the Aexa theme on your Shopify store, follow these steps:
- Download the theme .zip file from your purchase or the theme provider.
- Log in to your Shopify Admin dashboard.
- Go to Online Store → Themes.
- Click Upload Theme, select the .zip file, and click Upload.
- Once uploaded, preview the theme and click Publish to activate it.
Installing Required Apps
For full functionality, install and activate the following Shopify apps:
- Product Reviews: To enable customer reviews on product pages.
- Search & Discovery app: To enable product filters.
- Additional Apps: Check the Shopify Admin dashboard for any recommended apps prompted by the theme.
To Install Apps
Follow the steps mentioned below:
- Go to Shopify Admin → Apps.
- Search for the required app in the Shopify App Store.
- Click Install and follow the setup instructions.
- Activate the app to enable its features.
Importing Demo Content (Optional)
- Locate Demo Content Files:
- If your theme includes demo content, it’s typically found in a “Demo Content” or “Presets” folder within the downloaded theme package (e.g.,
settings_data.json or index.json).
- Unzip the theme package on your computer to access these files.
- Manually Import Demo Content (if supported):
- Go to Online Store > Themes in your Shopify admin.
- Select the theme you want to apply demo content to, click Actions, then choose Edit Code.
- Open the relevant file (e.g.,
settings_data.json or index.json) in the code editor.
- Open the demo content file (e.g.,
settings_data.json) from the theme package using a text editor (like Notepad or Notepad++), copy its contents, and paste it into the corresponding file in Shopify’s code editor, overwriting existing data.
- Save changes. This applies the demo’s layout and settings but may not include images due to licensing restrictions.
- Import Demo Products via CSV (if included):
- If the theme includes demo products, locate the CSV file in the theme’s “sources” or “Demo Data” folder.
- Go to Products > Import in your Shopify admin.
- Click Add File, select the CSV file, and choose whether to publish products to all sales channels or only your online store.
- Optionally, select Overwrite products with matching handles to update existing products.
- Click Upload and Continue, review the import details, and click Import Products.
- Ensure image URLs in the CSV are publicly accessible or upload images to Content > Files in Shopify.
Setting Up the Homepage
To configure your homepage:
- Go to Shopify Admin → Online Store → Preferences.
- Under Homepage, select a specific page or use the default store page.
- Use the Theme Editor (Online Store → Customize) to add and arrange sections (e.g., banners, featured products, collections).

General Settings
Customize general settings in the Shopify Theme Editor:
- Site Identity: Upload your logo, set the site title, and add a favicon in Theme Settings → Branding.
- Typography: Choose fonts for headings and body text in Theme Settings → Typography.
- Colors: Adjust theme colors in Theme Settings → Colors to match your brand.
- There are many other options available, see the screenshot below for all the options. Just set the value to anything you want.
Header & Footer
Configure header and footer settings:
- Header Layout: Select from available header type (e.g., header topbar, header catergory, header mobile, simple header) in Header Settings → Header.
- Sticky Header: Enable/disable sticky navigation in Header Settings → Header.

- Footer Sections: Add widgets like links, social media icons, or contact info in Footer Settings → Footer.

Homepage Setup
To design your homepage:
- Go to Online Store → Customize.
- Add a new page or edit the default homepage.
- Use Shopify’s drag-and-drop sections (e.g., image banners, product grids, testimonials) to build your layout.
- Save and publish your changes.
Collection & Product Pages
Customize your store’s collection and product pages:
- Go to Online Store → Customize → Collection Pages or Product Pages.
- Adjust layouts, such as grid style or sidebar visibility, in Theme Settings → Collections or Products.
- Customize product page elements like buttons, images, and descriptions.
Using Shopify Sections for Page Editing
To create or edit pages:
- Go to Shopify Admin → Online Store → Pages → Add Page.
- Use a page builder app (e.g., Shogun, PageFly) or Shopify’s built-in section editor.
- Drag and drop sections or widgets to design your page.
- Click Save and Publish to make the page live.
Setting Up Shopify Store
To configure your Shopify store:
- Go to Shopify Admin → Settings → General to set store details.
- Configure currency, payment gateways, and shipping in Settings → Payments and Shipping and Delivery.
- Add products via Products → Add Product, then click Save.
Customizing Shop Pages
To customize shop pages:
- Go to Online Store → Customize → Collection Pages or Product Pages.
- Modify layouts, filters, and sorting options in Theme Settings → Collections.
- Adjust checkout settings in Settings → Checkout.
Widgets & Sections
Aexa includes customizable sections and widgets:
- Go to Online Store → Customize → Theme Settings → Sections.
- Add or configure widgets like product carousels, newsletters, or social feeds.
- Control visibility and placement in the Theme Editor.
Improving Site Speed
To optimize your site’s performance:
- Use a caching app (e.g., Speed Booster).
- Optimize images with apps like Crush.pics or TinyPNG.
- Enable a Content Delivery Network (CDN) like Cloudflare via Settings → Apps.
SEO & Schema Markup
For better search engine rankings:
- Install an SEO app like SEO King or Plug in SEO.
- Enable schema markup for products and collections in Theme Settings → SEO.
- Optimize meta titles, descriptions, and URLs in Products and Pages.
Troubleshooting
Common issues and fixes:
- Issue: Theme settings not saving.
Solution: Clear browser cache or try a different browser.
- Issue: Page builder not loading.
Solution: Check for app conflicts or increase Shopify’s memory limit in Settings.
- Issue: Slow shop pages.
Solution: Optimize product images and enable caching apps.
